Ulan-Ude
Ulan-Ude is the capital of the Republic of Buryatia.The city area is 346,5 sq. km. The population is 366,0 thousand people. The distance to Moscow is 5532 km.
The city is situated in Transbaikalia in a valley of the river Selenga, between ridges Khamar-Daman and Ulan-Burgasy 75 km to the east from the lake Baikal.
The population of the city is 390 thousand people.There are 8834 enterprises of various patterns of ownership, 1008 of them work in the sphere of industrial production, 790 - in construction and contract works, 3850 of them are engaged in trade.
Here are 99 joint ventures, including those of 100 % investment such as "Fernish Art", "Ton-Sin", "Baikal - Trust K Ltd.", "Golden mean", "Yuanda Company", " Mayak Service". Today here function 58 large and middle-scale industrial enterprises.

The city of Ulan-Ude is a centre of national and cultural development, centre of science and the Tibetan medicine.
Here one can find the Buryat Scientific Centre of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences with 4 institutes. Research works of Buryat scientists in the field of the Tibetan medicine, biology, history, geology and ecology are widely known our country and abroad.
There are 4 professional theatres in Ulan-Ude. They are the Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Buryat State Academic Drama Theatre named after H.Namsarayev, the Russian Drama Theatre, the Republican Puppet Theatre "Ulger'.
